Illinois Livestock Development Group facilitating industry growth
A northwestern Illinois cattle producer says the Illinois Livestock Development Group is helping to facilitate investments in the industry across the state.
Ellen Rahn, who’s family operation is based in Carroll County, tells Brownfield…
“Whether they’re looking to establish new buildings, or making improvements on old ones,” she says. “Also helping that younger generation come back to the farm to make those improvements and see where they can take their farm for the future.”
Rahn, who also represents District 2 with the Illinois Corn Growers Association, says the group provides a range of technical assistance.
“Oh absolutely, that’s where the Livestock Management Facility Act comes into play.” She says, “We’ve got a great contractor on our team, Justin Lewis, who knows the ins and outs of that and ways to support the farmers so that they can make the right decisions.”
She says any producer looking to diversify their operation should contact the Illinois Livestock Development Group to learn more.
The Illinois Livestock Development Group is a coalition of the Illinois Corn Growers Association, Illinois Farm Bureau, Illinois Pork Producers, Illinois Beef Association, Illinois Milk Producers Association, and Illinois Soybean Association.
