Illinois State Fair hosts Ag Day

Today is Ag Day at the Illinois State Fair and despite a challenging year, Illinois Ag Director John Sullivan says Illinois Agriculture has a lot to be proud of.

Ag groups, farm families, lawmakers and supporters joined Sullivan at an Ag Day breakfast at the fairgrounds this morning and applauded Illinois for being a top producer of soybeans, corn, pork, pumpkins and horseradish.

The theme for the 2019 fair is “Building Our Future” which piggybacks off the multiple building renovations and road improvements being made on the fairgrounds.

Ag Day festivities continue tonight with the Governor’s Sale of Champions where proceeds will support Illinois 4-H and FFA programs as well as top livestock exhibitors.

The Illinois State Fair runs through August 18th in Springfield.
