Incoming MOFB Young Farmers chair emphasizes multi-generational farm success
The incoming chairman for the Missouri Farm Bureau’s Young Farmers and Ranchers says strong relationships and multi-generational teamwork are key to keeping family farms successful.
“I think it’s important different generations work together to come up with new ideas and make things more profitable on the farm.”
Spencer Bachmann and his wife, Rachel, raises livestock and hay with family in southeast Missouri. He says implementing changes on a multi-generational farm can be easier said than done, but younger farmers want to see their farm or ranch succeed.
“I like to call it legacy, I guess. No one likes to take over a farm and watch it fail.”
Bachmann says he enjoys farming with his family, which includes an 86-year-old grandpa, wife, his children and in-laws.
Brownfield interviewed Bachmann at the MOFB YF&R Conference at the Lake of the Ozarks.
