Indiana crops take off

A week of warmer and wetter conditions was good for Indiana crops that have been planted.

The USDA says corn is 54 percent planted and 30 percent emerged, while 49 percent of soybeans are planted and 27 percent have emerged. 

Winter wheat remains ahead of last year and the five-year average with 94 percent jointed and 65 percent headed.  Indiana wheat is rated 80 percent good to excellent.

The first cutting of alfalfa is 13 percent finished.
