Indiana Farm Bureau’s 2025 L.E.A.D. class focused on Indiana ag policy

Members of this year’s Indiana Farm Bureau Leadership Education Action and Development cohort are getting a hands on experience in ag policy development across the state.

Chelsea Poe is the executive director of education and engagement for Indiana Farm Bureau.

“They’re going to learn from the grassroots level up on how we develop a policy book, how to work with legislators at the statehouse, the impact of local governments and how local government also has an impact on the agricultural industry,” she says.

She tells Brownfield this year’s participants are learning about various ag policy issues on the state level.

“They’ll learn about those different positions, how they affect farm bureau, and agriculture in the state,” she says. “We’re looking forward to seeing them broaden their horizons in that agricultural realm.”

Poe says the program is open to members who want to develop their leadership skills.

“Leadership can happen at any age, so there is no age limit for our L.E.A.D. program,” she says. “Having that broad age demographic really helps folks learn from each another and their experiences.”

The L.E.A.D. Program empowers ag professionals to grow as leaders, expand their networks, and spark change in agriculture through education, action, and development.
