Indiana farmer focused on safety this planting season

A north central Indiana farmer says he’s keeping safety in mind this planting season.

Dave Schrock says farmers should to take time to plan ahead to prevent accidents.

“We go over safety on and off the road, in the field, around the chemistries,” he says. “Just in general, we make sure that every operator here fully understands the crop plan, what nutrients go where, and what feed goes where. There’s a lot of prep time.”

Ahead of the start of planting season, he tells Brownfield his operation has an annual safety meeting.

“The equipment has been done through the winter months, so our equipment is ready to roll,” he says. “We just do a last time around with everyone sitting down, so we all understand our role and how important it is that we stay safe.”

Schrock raises corn, soybeans, and wheat in Marshall County.
