The director of strategic outreach for Indiana Pork says a new partnership with the National Pork Producers Council is focused on helping students explore careers within the pork sector.

Chad Martin says the organization is working to build a strong talent pipeline centered on knowledge and education.

“The pork industry relies on those that are not only aware of how pork is produced, but how our industry operates,” he says.

He tells Brownfield farmers are building relationships within their local communities to help fill critical workforce gaps.

“We’re really pushing forward with a work-based learning experience for our pork producers to take advantage of the new graduation requirements here in Indiana,” he says. “Students can get some really practical production-level knowledge before they launch into their career.”

Martin says Indiana Pork continues to make long-term investments in educational programs that to help students build lasting connections in the pork sector.
