Indiana water availability becomes one of INFB’s top priorities
The president of Indiana Farm Bureau says the organization continues to work on several policy issues on behalf of its members.
Randy Kron says he never thought Indiana would have to fight to keep water available for ag use.
“Boone County doesn’t have enough water and now industry is talking about moving it 40 or 50 miles in large quantities like 100 million gallons per day,” he says.
He tells Brownfield the organization has a water task force in place.
“By no means are we against economic development,” he says. “We want viable rural communities, but we have to find that happy medium. How do we protect those existing wells there and how can we help on economic development?”
By number means are we against economic development, we want viable rural communities, but we have to find that happy medium. How do we protect those existing wells there and how can we help on economic development?
Kron says members who are affected should contact their state legislators.
