Indiana wheat harvest more than 1/3 complete

A week of hotter and drier conditions is concerning Indiana farmers.

The USDA says corn is rated 63 percent good to excellent with 98 percent emerged. Soybeans are 95 percent emerged and three percent blooming with condition rated 61 percent good to excellent. Both crop conditions were down on the week.

Winter wheat is now 81 percent mature, and 39 percent harvested, ahead of last year and the five-year average, with a 78 percent good to excellent rating.

The first cutting of alfalfa is 98 percent finished and the second cutting is underway.
