Indiana winter wheat emergence at 88%

The USDA says winter wheat emergence is approximately on schedule in Indiana.

The latest crop progress report says 88% of the crop has emerged, near the five-year average of 89%, with 64% of the crop in good to excellent condition.

The agency says winter preparations commenced as harvest season for many farmers in Indiana came to a close last week. Most activities on the farm include hauling grain and equipment maintenance.
