INFB focused on water availability and property taxes in next legislative session

The president of Indiana Farm Bureau says the organization is prioritizing its biggest issues ahead of the 2025 legislative session.

Randy Kron says members are concerned about water policy for ag use.

“We had a task force study water go more in depth,” he says. “They came out with a couple of pretty good recommendations and one of them is to have groundwater monitoring wells. This one will be something the state needs to do and to understand what is actually going on.”

He tells Brownfield finding a property tax solution is a priority.

“This is a budget year, so it makes sense to be working on that this year and I think most farmers around the state know that in 2024, their property taxes rose 27%,” he says. “They’re projected to be up 20% in 2025.”

Kron says the organization will work with incumbents and new members of the General Assembly.

2025 is a long legislative session because it’s a budget year.
