Innovation pays off for farmer
The co-founder of Indiana-based Fair Oaks Farms says the idea for one of her best-selling products came from listening to consumers.
Sue McCloskey says a shift in consumer demand led her to create Fairlife, ultra-filtered milk.
“Nothing was happening in milk, the decline was year after year after year,” she says. “So we listened, thought about it and said okay we need to make a change and now when you look at Fairlife it’s probably one of the big bright spots in dairy.”
She tells Brownfield farmers have to be innovative more now than ever there are so many choices.
“Our competition is fierce and it is creative and innovative,” she says. “So we have to gain back our drinkers and eaters of our product by bringing innovation forward.”
McCloskey spoke to Brownfield at the 2018 Agbioscience Innovation Summit in Indianapolis.
