Iowa-based hotline expands nationally to address stress and financial worries
A University of Illinois Extension specialist says an Iowa-based hotline for farmers in need is now available nationwide.
Dr. Josie Rudolphi says the Iowa Concern Line through Iowa State University has been assisting farmers since 1985.
“They’ve actually expanded their Concern Line to be available to anybody in the U.S.” She says, “What I really like about this line is that it was born out of the 1980s farm crisis. They respond to close to 10,000 calls a year.”
She tells Brownfield, “While you can certainly call to talk about stress, it’s also designed to help connect a caller with resources and services should they have financial concerns, or legal concerns, or need resources because of a natural disaster.”
Rudolphi says the Concern Line is available 24/7 at 1-800-447-1985.
