Iowa Corn continues push for year-round E15
The president of the Iowa Corn Growers Association says expanded access to E15 would reduce emissions and help consumers save money at the pump.
Jolene Riessen tells Brownfield that’s one of the association’s biggest priorities heading into 2024. “It’s super important to get E15 available year-round throughout the United States, not just here in Iowa. Our Governor (Kim) Reynolds has been doing a great job trying to get this done. We’re going to continue to pursue that to help open markets.”
She says an increase in E15 demand is good news for farmers. “If I’ve got a place for my corn to go to, it helps stabilize that market. It helps me make a little more money because there is demand for my corn. It also goes into now I have more food stocks for the cattle, hogs, and the poultry.”
Riessen says the Next Generation Fuels Act is one pathway to permanent year-round sales.
