Iowa dry heading into winter

Iowa farmers closed the season with more than six days suitable for fieldwork.

In its final crop report of 2022, the USDA says warmer weather allowed for tillage and fertilizer applications.  There were also scattered reports of corn fields waiting to be harvested.

It is dry heading into winter with 56 percent of topsoil and 65 percent of subsoil moisture rated short to very short.
