Iowa farmer ‘ready to roll’

Central Iowa farmer Morey Hill says planters will be rolling soon in his area.

“When I’ve talked to neighbors, they think the ground conditions are ready if we can get the temperature up and hold it there.”

He tells Brownfield the drought is still a concern. “The tank is not full by any means. I think there’s enough from what snow we had and these last little rains that we should be off to a good start. But like we always say, we need it as we keep going through the season.”

Hill says he didn’t have any problems locking in his inputs for the spring. “It was a little bit less than a year before. From what I’ve talked to suppliers and agronomists, they said there shouldn’t be any supply shortfalls with the crop protection stuff.”

Hill raises corn and soybeans in Boone and Dallas counties.
