Iowa farmer says fuel costs continue to add up

A southwest Iowa farmer says the price of diesel continues to be a concern heading into planting season.

“Fuel went from being kind of a secondhand thought to being a pretty big expense.”

Justin Ewalt raises row crops and cattle in Fremont County. “I think we’re 60-75 cents off some of the stuff we did in the fall,” he said. “That’s promising, but boy we would sure like to see that come down a little bit.”

AAA says the national average price of diesel is a dollar higher than this time last year.
