Iowa farmer says planting off to a great start
Central Iowa farmer Corey Hillebo says this spring is off to a great start.
“We had a lot of anhydrous and strips to make for strip-till, and the end of March gave us some great windows to get that done timely. And great conditions and allowed us to start planting in a timely fashion as well.”
Hillebo grows corn and soybeans near Polk City and tells Brownfield he started planting Thursday.
“I started on soybeans, and it seems to be that’s kind of the trend this year. Seems like a lot of guys were going on soybeans first, and I’m 43 percent soybeans this year and should be done planting today.”
Hillebo says soils are a little on the dry side, but conditions are good for planting.
