Iowa farmer sees price ratio shift
An Iowa farmer suggests the price ratio favoring corn going into the year has shifted.
Mark Jackson of Oskaloosa says some farmers in the southeast part of the state planted more corn and fewer soybeans.
“I did see a change, and the coop has talked about it as well. I think there were a few people chasing the value prospect, but I think that has kind of shifted now. As you look at your cash price, what you can receive, (maybe that’s) gone the other way.”
He tells Brownfield hopefully farmers who went heavier on corn forward contracted.
“Four dollars is about your high in this part of the state for this fall for corn, but nine and-a-half dollar beans are easily accessible too.”
Jackson says he stuck with his usual 50-50 corn soybean rotation for 2025.
