Iowa farmers discuss harvest timelines at Farm Progress Show

Some Iowa farmers say they’ll start harvesting crops in September while others plan to hold off until October.

Davenport farmer Robb Ewoldt says he expects to get combines in the field in the next two weeks. “I think we’ll have some corn by the 15th of September,” he said.

Brent Renner of Klemme tells Brownfield, “If that dark cloud comes and gives us some rain in the next couple weeks it will probably be the first of October,” Renner said. “But if we don’t get rain soon there might be activity towards the end of September.”

Rippey farmer Tim Bardole says he’ll likely wait until the first week of October. “I don’t think it will be a record crop, but it’s going to be a big crop,” Bardole said.

The farmers spoke to Brownfield at the 2024 Farm Progress Show in Boone, Iowa.
