Iowa Pork seeks FAD resources during Iowa Legislative Session

The Iowa Pork Producers Association is tracking some animal health issues during the ongoing Iowa Legislative Session.

IPPA Public Policy Director Ben Nuelle says, “One of our top priorities at the Statehouse, as we’ve done for the last several years, is continuing to support Secretary Mike Naig’s appropriations request for foreign animal disease preparedness.”

He tells Brownfield pork producers need additional resources for animal health. “With African swine fever and other sorts of diseases, continuing to make sure the pig herd is protected will be our top priority. Looking at how the state can have the resources necessary to keep our producers protected from any sort of outbreak.”

Nuelle says State Ag Secretary Mike Naig will request those funds through the appropriations process.

He spoke to Brownfield at the 2025 Iowa Pork Congress.
