Iowa’s ‘ag gag’ law ruled unconstitutional
A federal judge has struck down Iowa’s so-called “ag gag” law.
The law, passed in 2012, made it illegal for animal rights activists, journalists or others to gain employment on a farm for the sole purpose of conducting an undercover investigation. The judge found the law violates the First Amendment’s right to free speech.
Courts in Idaho, Wyoming and Utah also have struck down similar laws in those states.
