IPWA–IEF partnership aims to strengthen poultry welfare education worldwide

The International Poultry Welfare Alliance and International Egg Foundation have signed a memorandum of understanding to strengthen poultry welfare training around the world.

Elena Myhre with the International Poultry Welfare Alliance tells Brownfield “this is something we’ve made in collaboration with a lot of U.S. poultry producers and now, they’re able to be a leader in sharing that knowledge with the rest of the world.”

Myhre says attention is needed in different regions of the globe, like Africa.

“It’s training the families and communities that IEF works with to ensure they take care of their poultry and teach them how to do that.”

With the signing of the MOU, the alliance says the foundation now has access to key welfare indicator guides, scientific expertise, and other tools. This allows the foundation to use these resources in the field and make sure materials meet the needs of the people who use them.
