ISDA emphasizes importance of ag policy
The director of the Indiana State Department of Agriculture says farmers have expressed concern about getting a farm bill done this year.
Don Lamb says ISDA remains committed to putting farmers first.
“In a period of change of administrations and our job really is to keep our head down and keep moving forward for agriculture, no matter what,” he says. “In these periods of unknowns, when it comes to the to the changes that are coming, it’s important for us just to keep doing what we do best.”
He tells Brownfield the added pressures in an election year draws out the waiting game.
“You know, there’s a little bit of optimism, among a few people that will still get something done,” he says. “But I think just the way the political game has come about, just standing on the sidelines at the moment and just hoping for something to happen.”
Director Lamb visited with Knox County farmers to talk about ag policy during the Indiana Corn and Soybean’s Shop Talk Summer Series. The next stop is in Delaware County.
