ISDA’s focus for 2025

The director of the Indiana State Department of Agriculture is preparing for the 2025 state legislative session.

Don Lamb says the recently completed loss of farmland study could shape movement in the statehouse.

“It guides so much of our future and now as we think about what that did for us, it really helps us to think about what we need to do for preserving that farmland in the future,” he says.

He tells Brownfield the agency has additional priorities in 2025.

“When we think about 2025, we think about agricultural economic development and trade,” he says. “Another area we want to keep a focus on is the Indiana grown program. As we look towards the next year, we think about the growth of FFA making sure that we have enough people, enough resources to support the program well.”

Lamb says he will continue serving Indiana farmers under Governor elect Braun’s leadership.

The 2025 legislative session begins on January 8th.
