Johnson says year-round E15 deal ready, but House floor time delays vote
A U.S. Congressman from South Dakota says the contours of a deal that allow nationwide, year-round sales of E15 has been ready to go for a month, but it’s been a challenge to get floor time to pass it.
Dusty Johnson tells Brownfield there have been other issues that have taken priority, including funding the Department of Homeland Security and resignations of a few members of Congress.
“It’s a little frustrating when we’ve got hugely important work related to American energy dominance that doesn’t come to the front-burner, because we’ve got so much more chaos and distruption in Washington D.C. that shoves it to the side.”
Johnson says the specifics of the deal won’t likely be made public until a Congressional vote gets close.
“Nobody wants to talk about at this point about how we haven’t gotten it done. Everybody will want to talk about how we’re on the cusp of getting it done.”
Johnson says the long-term prospects for biofuels remain strong, and he’s one of several lawmakers on the Rural Domestic Energy Council.
