Kansas corn planting remains faster than normal

Kansas farmers made more headway planting last week.

USDA’s latest crop report says corn is now 51 percent planted, compared to the five-year average of 43 percent.

Twenty-nine percent of the crop has emerged, a week faster than normal.

Soybeans are 22 percent planted, compared to 15 percent normally.

Winter wheat is 54 percent headed, with most of the crop rated in poor, fair, or good condition.
