The president of the Kansas Soybean Association says delays over the Renewable Fuel Standard are testing the patience of the ag industry.

Brett Neibling says the lack of a final rule for Renewable Volume Obligations is frustrating. “I don’t know. It’s hard. Every time I have a conversation with someone it feels like we’re still in a holding pattern.”

He tells Brownfield that the U.S. EPA has indicated that they’re moving through the process and the results would be beneficial for agriculture. “It’s hard to wait. It’s very hard to patient for us in this industry. That’s what you have to do. We have to sit there and wait for this plan to come together. We think it will be a gamechanger.”

Neibling says the longer EPA waits to release rule, the harder it becomes for biodiesel plants and producers to plan for the year ahead.

Brownfield interviewed Neibling at the Kansas Commodity Classic.
