Kentucky crop update
Cooler temperatures and dry weather helped Kentucky farmers in the field cutting hay and topping tobacco last week.
Seventy seven percent of tobacco is now topped, and 28% cut, both right on averages, with the crop rated 74% good to excellent.
Pasture conditions declined slightly to 60 percent good to excellent, with lack of rain and mild temperatures stunting growth.
Corn is unchanged at 67% good to excellent, with one percent harvested, 25% mature, and 66% in dent stage. Soybeans are 60% good to excellent with 92 percent blooming, 85 percent setting pods, and 29 percent coloring, and 3% dropping leaves.
