Kentucky crops: 58% corn and 40% soybeans planted

Kentucky farmers made decent advancements in planting progress despite widespread heavy rains.

Corn is 58 percent planted, with 39 percent of the crop emerged.  Soybeans are 40 percent planted and 22 percent emerged.  Tobacco is 8 percent set.

Winter wheat is 87 percent headed, with 88 percent of the crop rated good to excellent. 

Pastures are rated 80 percent good to excellent. 

Topsoil moisture is 98 percent and subsoil moisture is listed as 96 percent adequate to surplus.
