Land O’Lakes and retail partners launch AgRogue to drive ag innovation

One of the nation’s largest agricultural cooperatives is launching an investment platform to support new ag technologies.

Chief strategy officer Jason Trusley says Land O’Lakes and a coalition of retailer-owners will help find, fund, and scale up ag tech innovations through a new initiative called AgRogue Growth Partners.

“Which is now going into our first investment, and beginning to really think about how do we scale this platform as a true way to drive scaled innovation through the farming system.”

Land O’Lakes chief operating officer Brett Bruggeman tells Brownfield one of the primary goals with AgRogue is to ramp up technology that improves farmer productivity.

“Whether it’s yield or whether it’s supply chain efficiency. But the other thing that the market has not been as effective that we think we can do with this platform is also make sure that we’re not wasting time with technologies that don’t make sense.”

Bruggeman says necessary innovations are stalled before reaching the farm gate, and AgRogue will help bridge the gap to get proven innovations into farmers’ hands faster.

Land O’Lakes retail partners include Keystone Cooperative, Central Valley Ag, and Farmers Cooperative-Dorchester in Nebraska, as well as Farmward Cooperative in Minnesota.
