Lawmaker wants to know how lab-grown foods will be regulated

Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro wants to know how lab-grown foods will be regulated. DeLauro has sent a letter to the General Accountability Office (GAO) asking for an examination of the regulatory framework saying it remains unclear “exactly how cell-cultured food products should be regulated.”

DeLauro says Congress needs more information so that the emerging sector of lab-cultured foods, such as cultured meat, is properly supervised and regulated. DeLauro is the top Democrat on the Ag Appropriations subcommittee.
