Lawmakers and ag groups prepare message to EPA to rethink proposal
Illinois Congressman Rodney Davis is collecting signatures for a letter to EPA Administrator Andrew Wheeler regarding the supplemental proposal for renewable fuels volumes.
The letter says that the proposed revisions fall short of what was promised earlier this month and don’t account for the realistic average of small refinery exemptions that have been granted.
The EPA has proposed using Department of Energy recommendations to calculate a three-year rolling average instead of actual gallons lost to small refinery exemptions.
The letter urges the EPA to reconsider the proposal and uphold the commitment made to farmers.
The letter is supported by American Farm Bureau, National Corn Growers Association, Renewable Fuels Association, Growth Energy, Illinois Corn, Illinois Farm Bureau, and the National Corn to Ethanol Research Center.
