Legacy of 4-H recognized at 2024 Iowa State Fair

The executive director of the Iowa 4-H Foundation says 4-H continues to meet the needs of youth across the country.

Emily Saveraid tells Brownfield it’s importance to recognize the legacy of 4-H and how the organization empowers young people. “We really say that 4-H helps young people be ready,” she said. “Ready for what’s next, if it’s college, if it’s a career, if it’s to be a community leader. The skills that they gain through 4-H help them to be successful later in life.”

She says the future of agriculture is strong. “By putting young people through all these different programs, when they graduate high school, they’re ready. They’re ready to be employed by the ag industry because those skills will be needed wherever young people go.”

The Iowa 4-H Foundation helps provide financial resources that develop youth programs throughout the state. Saveraid spoke to Brownfield during 4-H Day at the Iowa State Fair on Friday, August 9th.
