Leveling the playing field for U.S. producers
The Deputy Secretary at USDA says U.S. farmers must be treated fairly as the Sustainable Aviation Fuel market is developed.
Xochitl Torres Small tells Brownfield Brazil has an unfair advantage accessing the new SAF market in the United States.
“We have to be at a level playing field and right now, we’re not. Right now, the U.S. has a 2% tariff for ethanol coming in from Brazil, but they’ve leveled an unfair and unjust 18% tariff on our ethanol.”
And she says…
“We’re not asking for Brazil to buy a billion gallons of U.S. ethanol, we just want them to treat our product the same manner we treat theirs: fairly.”
Torres Small met with Brazil in a one-on-one meeting on Saturday, following a discussion with ministers at the G20 Ag Ministers Meeting in Brazil.
