“Like Lucy and Charlie Brown”: Minnesota farmer reacts to E15 policy delays

A Minnesota farmer is frustrated by continued uncertainty with year-round nationwide E15.

Rob Tate of Cannon Falls tells Brownfield.

“The analogy that’s been given before is it’s a little bit like Lucy holding the ball for Charlie Brown and she moves it at the last minute on him. I think we feel a little bit that way, but we’re still hopeful something can get done here in the near future.”

He says passing E15 legislation would provide certainty to farmers.

“The financial situation for row-crop farming right now is pretty tough with our costs being elevated. But if we can get the revenue side of the equation to improve and have more opportunities and year-round E15 sales, that would be great. So I’m watching that.”

It’s estimated year-round nationwide E15 would generate $8 to $12 billion annually for U.S. farmers via stronger corn prices and demand.
