Livestock entries on track for Missouri State Fair, officials say

Missouri State Fair Director Jason Moore says livestock entries for the Missouri State Fair look promising ahead of the 10-day event.

“We’re right on track, if not up in a few different areas.We’re so excited to see all our friends back in the barns, and livestock buildings and watch them showcase what they’ve been working so hard on.”

Ag Director Chris Chinn says the livestock shows are the best way to start a day at the fair.

“The state fair is our largest showcase of Missouri agriculture. A walk through any of the livestock barns is going to really show the hard work and dedication of all of our fair exhibitors, whether they’re FFA or 4-H, and it shows what Missouri agriculture is all about.”

Youth poultry and goat judging starts next Tuesday on the Missouri State Fairgrounds, followed by goat judging events on Wednesday.

On the official first day of the fair, next Thursday, the livestock barns feature the youth market lamb show, some breed cattle shows, chicken, turkey and waterfowl shows and the growth classic barrow show. A full schedule of livestock events can be found on the Missouri State Fair website.

The Missouri State Fair starts next week in Sedalia and continues through August 23.
