Managing corn rootworm with Vorceed Enlist from Pioneer

A corn specialist with Pioneer says corn rootworm has become increasingly problematic the last few years.

Macy Marek tells Brownfield, “You can think back to only having struggles of it on corn-on-corn acres, but now we know it’s present in a lot of our rotated acres as well that our customers are dealing with.”

She says it will be important to utilize additional modes of action as the pest continues to evolve. “Vorceed Enlist is our corn rootworm trait. If you’ve heard about our Qrome products in the marketplace currently, that is really taking our Qrome products and adding an additional mode of action against that corn rootworm. It’s adding more protection for our farmers in the field.”

According to Pioneer, the use of Vorceed Enlist corn has shown a 99% reduction in adult emergence of western corn rootworm.

Marek spoke to Brownfield at Corteva’s 2025 field day in Johnston, Iowa.
