Margins, demand expectations support ethanol production
U.S. ethanol production rose slightly over the past week.
The U.S. Energy Information Administration says production averaged 1.117 million barrels per day, up 10,000 on the week and 24,000 on the year as the industry responds to demand expectations and margins, boosting domestic usage of corn.
Ethanol stocks did hit an 11-week high at 24.798 million barrels, an increase of 274,000 from the previous week and 2.149 million from a year ago.
The Renewable Fuels Association says net inputs of ethanol purchased by refiners and blenders fell to a four-week low and the volume of gasoline supplied to the market was fractionally lower.
Ethanol exports averaged 109,000 barrels per day, a decline of 91,000 from the prior week and 14,000 from last year.
The USDA expects 5.55 billion bushels of corn to be used for ethanol production in 2025/26, rising to 5.6 billion in 206/27, with the next guess out September 11th.
