Maximizing ROI in beef
The director of beef cattle technical services at Purina Animal Nutrition says using value-added nutrition programs can maximize a producer’s return on investment.
Ted Perry says demand for beef continues to be strong.
“Through genetic selection and just the management, we’ve really created that huge demand for high quality beef,” he says. “We’ve got to feed those genetics. We can’t feed 2024 cows like we did even in the year 2000.”
He tells Brownfield animal nutrition establishes a basis for calf performance.
“What these value added programs do is they just certify and let the buyer know more about the calves,” he says. “When the value added program comes in, we’re taking the guess work out of buying.”
Brownfield interviewed Perry at the 2024 National Association of Farm Broadcasting Convention.
