May is beef month in Missouri

Missouri Governor Mike Kehoe has declared May as beef month.

And Ag Director Chris Chinn tells Brownfield…

“We are the third largest cow-calf state in the nation. We have a lot of cattle in Missouri with more than 58,000 farms having cattle on them.”

The meat processing industry also contributes nearly $6 million to Missouri’s economy, according to a study showing the economic contribution of Missouri agriculture.

The official proclamation happened Monday in a special ceremony at the Missouri Capitol.
