Members discuss what they’ve gained from Indiana Farm Bureau
Northeastern Indiana Farmer Sarah Delbecq has been a member of Indiana Farm Bureau for about six years.
She says getting involved at the county level has been the most rewarding aspect.
“Indiana Farm Bureau is by far the best platform to be advocating for agriculture on the most local of levels and so for me to do good things for agriculture in DeKalb County- farm bureau has been that platform,” she says.
Central Indiana Farmer Mike Shuter says he enjoys connecting with other members across the state.
“We always learn from each other when we’re together,” he says. “I enjoy sharing with others what we’re doing and vice versa.”
Northern Indiana Farmer Jake Smoker says he has gained experiences through Indiana Farm Bureau that he couldn’t get anywhere else.
“I’ve been to Washington DC three times now and to have a direct line with your sitting Congressmen and your sitting senators- things like that and experiences like that I wouldn’t be able to get anywhere else and that’s allowed me to have a voice,” he says.
Brownfield spoke to the farmers at the Indiana Farm Bureau Convention in French Lick.
