MFA, Land O’Lakes announce alliance to enhance farm sustainability

Minnesota-based Land O’Lakes and Missouri-based MFA Incorporated are partnering to help farmers grow opportunities in sustainability.

Land O’Lakes Chief Operating Officer Brett Bruggeman tells Brownfield the two cooperatives will share resources and technology.

“It’s about data, it’s about innovation, and it’s really about making sure that we have full utilization of our assets during a time where things are a little bit squeezed,” he says.

Eligible farmers will be able to utilize the Land O’Lakes sustainability platform, Truterra, which helps growers and retailers navigate carbon credits for profitability.

MFA Executive Vice President of Operations Jason Weirich says the collaboration will improve stewardship, innovation and technology.

“It’s really the foundation of what a cooperative is, how we work together for the betterment of our member owners and provide goods and services to make them more profitable to farm gate,” he says.

The move will help farmers improve data management and increase efficiencies in asset utilization.
