Michigan dairy farmers invest in Whitecaps training center

Michigan dairy farmers have partnered with West Michigan Whitecaps to help train future Tiger baseball players.

United Dairy Industry of Michigan’s Noelle Nachreiner tells Brownfield the dairy checkoff has worked with the Midwest League team for several years to promote the state’s top agricultural product.

“This year we decided that we wanted to take that partnership a step further and we actually have the naming rights to their new performance center,” she shares. “We’re working with them to ensure that all of their athletes, as well as the community, are able to learn more about dairy and enjoy dairy.”

She says the batting cage area is filled with key dairy and nutrition messages to educate about farmers and the importance of refueling with milk.

The facility will also be open for high school and college team trainings and for rent.

The West Michigan Whitecaps play just north of Grand Rapids as a High-A affiliate of the Detroit Tigers.
