Midwest governors urge Congress to pass bill making E15 available nationwide

Seven Midwestern governors are asking Congress to find a solution for year-round E15 nationwide.

A letter was sent earlier this week to leaders of the U.S. Senate and House Committees on Energy and Commerce. The governors are asking lawmakers to pass the Nationwide Consumer and Fuel Retailer Choice Act of 2025. They say ensuring the availability of nationwide E15 helps create new markets for farmers who are facing tightening demand and Americans who will benefit at the gas pump.

The letter is signed by the governors in South Dakota, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska and Wisconsin.

Earlier this year, the U.S. EPA finalized a rule that allows the sale of E15 in several Midwestern states; most of the governors from those states signed the letter.
