Midwest land market remains active as quality acres hold value

The CEO of Missouri-based Premier Farm Realty Group says the land market in the nine Midwestern states the company covers is active.
Dale Dunn says quality farmland continues to bring value.
“I wouldn’t say that row crop stuff and other types of production ground has gone up, but it’s certainly not going down.” He says, “Participation has been pretty good. If it’s in the right area, it’s got the right zip code, there’s just people standing in line to buy those properties.”
As to who is buying those properties, he tells Brownfield…
“I would say it’s still more farmers. I mean, usually when we auction a row crop farm off, or we sell it as a standard listing, the neighbors are the most likely buyers.” He says, “Now we do see some out-of-town influence on really high production ground, but mostly it’s just kind of a local thing.”
Dunn says that if predicted further reductions in interest rates are enacted, he expects that it will bring even more potential buyers into an already active land market.
Brownfield spoke with Dunn at the 2025 Greater Peoria Farm Show in Peoria, IL.
