“Million dollar” rain brings some relief to ranchers in Nebraska
A rancher in the Nebraska Sandhills says recent moisture has brought significant relief to drought conditions.
“It was just about the perfect rain. I couldn’t have asked for a better rain.”
Jaclyn Wilson of Lakeside tells Brownfield the half inch to inch rain Tuesday night was desperately needed. “It was one of those slow moving, drenching rains and that’s great because of how susceptible the Sandhills are to right now to anything because of lack of vegetation and wind damage.”
She says pastures have struggled to green up due to extreme weather conditions. “The wind this year has been very disastrous. I’ve never seen this much sand as I’ve seen this year.”
Wilson says there’s still along ways to go in areas that have almost no vegetation.
