The Commissioner of Agriculture in Minnesota says he’s encouraged following a recent visit with the Mexican Consulate in St. Paul.

Thom Petersen tells Brownfield Mexico is a top market for Minnesota and U.S. ag exports.

“Trying to continue to build that relationship. Mexico for corn, ham, turkey, those are all top markets.”

He tells Brownfield the U.S. Mexico Canada Agreement was discussed.

“The impression (Wednesday) is that it’s a workable document, that it’s things that we can continue to build off of. And I think that was good to hear because I think USMCA and the way I look at it has been good for Minnesota.”

Petersen says the USMCA dispute process also seems to be working.
