Minnesota Ag Water Quality program hits milestone
More than 500,000 acres have been certified in Minnesota’s Ag Water Quality Certification Program.
Governor Walz recognized the achievement by visiting a farm north of the Twin Cities.
Since its launch in 2015, 772 farmers have implemented over 1,500 new conservation practices. The program is credited with reducing an estimated 34,000 tons of sediment per year from Minnesota lakes, rivers and streams.
Cover crops are used on more than 50,000 of the certified acres.
