Minnesota corn harvest at 97%
Fall fieldwork is winding down across Minnesota.
USDA’s latest weekly crop update says just three percent of the state’s corn acreage is left to be harvested, and the sunflower harvest is 93 percent complete.
Southwest Minnesota farmer Carolyn Olson tells Brownfield activity has slowed in her area.
“Our neighborhood is kind of wrapping everything up. There’s still a little bit of manure being spread and worked in, but for the most part people are tucking things away and are relieved that we had good weather in the last few weeks.”
Olson farms in Lyon County and serves as vice president of Minnesota Farm Bureau.
USDA reporters note some tillage continuing, as well as cornstalk baling.
